Cette page récapitule la façon d'obtenir les accents isolatin-1 sur les
stations Sun, soit directement avec les touches <code>méta</code> ou
<code>compose</code>, soit indirectement en utilisant le codage LaTeX ou les
entités HTML.

Cette page fait la synthèse de ce qui est expliqué dans ces
diverses pages, à l'exception des question d'usage. Nous vous conseillons donc
de vous reporter, le cas échéant, au passage concernant
<a href="../internet/courrier/index.html#accents">les accents et le
courrier électronique</a>. Nous vous rappelons au passage que les majuscules
prennent des accents, comme indiqué dans les
<a href="http://www.langue-fr.net/faq/faq.htm#maj_accent">questions
fréquemment posées sur le groupe de discussion

<a name="isolatin" id="isolatin">À propos des caractères isolatins</a>
</h2>
<p>
Le code le plus répandu dans le monde Unix est l'ASCII (American Standard Code
for Information Interchange). C'est un petit code, prévu pour 95 signes
américains, et sans accents.
</p>
<p>
La famille de codes ISO-8859 est de l'ASCII étendu : il reprend les 128
codes ASCII, et complète avec des codes «locaux», c'est-à-dire des accents et
divers signes.
</p>
<p>
La variante isolatin-1 comporte tous les signes diacritiques nécessaires pour
écrire le francais, sauf le oe minuscule et majuscule (œ et Œ),
et le y tréma majuscule (Ÿ). Dans les travaux en cours, l'ISO-8859-1
s'intègre dans une norme plus générale, conçue pour unifier tous les jeux de
caractères de la planète. La norme en question répond au doux nom
d'ISO-10646... dont on risque d'entendre parfois parler dans certains
milieux.

Le tableau qui va suivre ne recense pas tous les caractères isolatins-1 :
on s'est limité aux différents accents et à certains signes courants
(guillemets français, paragraphe, etc).

<a name="notations" id="notations">À propos des notations du tableau</a>
</h2>
<ul>
<li><strong>Accents avec <code>méta</code></strong> : on appuie sur la
touche <code>méta</code> en même temps que sur la touche concernée, comme avec
<code>shift</code> ou <code>control</code>. <code>M-i</code> signifie appuyer
en même temps sur la touche <code>méta</code> et la touche <code>i</code>.
<code>M-E</code> signifie appuyer en même temps sur <code>méta</code> et le
E majuscule, donc <code>E</code> et <code>shift</code> en même temps.

<li><strong>Accents avec <code>compose</code></strong> : on appuie
sucessivement sur sur la touche <code>compose</code>, puis sur les caractères
qui composent l'accent. <code>C , c</code> signifie appuyer sur
<code>compose</code>, puis la virgule, puis le <code>c</code>. <code>C ^
e</code> signifie appuyer sur <code>compose</code>, puis sur le chapeau (donc
<code>shift-6</code>), puis sur le <code>e</code>.

<li><strong>Accents en LaTeX</strong> : Babel permet d'écrire
indifféremment <code>conna\^itre</code> ou <code>conna\^\i tre</code>.
On indique ici la version évoluée, sans le backslash devant le <code>i</code>
pour ôter le point. On a aussi choisi d'indiquer les guillemets ouvrants et
fermants sous la forme <code>&lt;&lt;....&gt;&gt;</code>.
Pour pouvoir utiliser des accents 8 bits dans le source et obtenir des accents
dans le <code>dvi</code>, il suffit d'ajouter les ligne suivantes dans
l'entête de son document :

<li><strong>Accents en HTML</strong> : on recommande bien sûr de
taper ses accents en isolatin-1 directement. Voici les entités affichant les
